VEE MOODLEY.
PHUMELELA is delighted to announce that two members of its executive management team have been appointed to the board.

John Stuart, Director International Marketing and Sales, and Betting Executive Vee Moodley have been appointed International Executive Director and Betting Executive Director respectively.

Stuart has worked in the tote industry since 1979, when he joined the then TAB KwaZulu-Natal as Internal Auditor. He went on to become Assistant General Manager and joined Phumelela in 1997 as Business Development Manager. After occupying various roles in the organisation, he took over the International Division in May 2006.

SEATTLE ICE WINS IN 2009
THE Charity Mile, which brings together top racehorses and famous people in aid of charity, has become one of the highlights of Phumelela’s Spring-Summer Feature Race Season and will be sponsored by Peermont and Emperors Palace for the second year running.

CHRISTOPHE SOUMILLON
SOUTH AFRICAN horseracing fans will be treated to a scintillating display of race-riding skills next month when world-famous Christophe Soumillon will lead some of the best international jockeys in a clash with South Africa’s top riders in a two-legged International Jockeys’ Challenge.

Four Challenge races will be run at each of the two legs. The first leg of the Challenge will be at Turffontein Racecourse in Johannesburg on Friday evening 12 November when the magic of racing under lights will add excitement to a grand occasion, and the second at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon 14 November.

It is not in any way affected by the recent North Gauteng High Court ruling prohibiting online gambling. That the court ruling applies to online gambling on interactive games only, and not to online betting on horseracing and sport, has been confirmed by the Gauteng Gambling Board.
