MEADOW MAGIC (Anton Marcus) gives trainer Mike de Kock his second Emerald Cup victory as he beats Beacon Flare by a neck with Cape raider Captain's Secret a close third in the 2012 renewal of Africa's richest race on the sand.

THE Emerald Cup, sponsored by the Emerald Casino Resort on the banks of the Vaal River, is Africa’s richest race on sand and carries total prize money of R600,000.

The race is run over 1400m on the Vaal sand track and traditionally takes place towards the end of September, a position in which it kicks off Phumelela’s major events each racing season.
